Born in 1963 in the suburbias of Greater Manchester and Chester, Adam Burthom went on from school and college to study graphic design in Liverpool and came into contact with the vibrant underground art scene. In the early 1980s he ventured to take on the mantle of the ‘outsider’ and began co-staging installations and happenings at the fringes of the art world and society in general. Burthom returned to Liverpool in 1987 and moved to rural Ireland in 1993 where he continued to conduct arts activities, this time as educator, student, facilitator, initiator & motivator within the local community. Burthom recently graduated with a Research Masters Degree in Fine Art from the National College of Art & Design, Dublin and is currently conducting ongoing Car-Boot Sale experiments to discover and explore ways of creating public exposure to, and involvement in, realizing identity through collectivity.
Adam visited apexart from County Sligo, Ireland, from January 19 - February 19, 2011. He was recommended by Ronan Sharkey, an artist based in Ireland. Visit his Resident Page for more information.
